Physical accessibility
We want everyone to feel welcome and able to visit our practice. Here’s how we make it easy for people to get around and use our building:
Getting In and Around
Step-Free Access: There are no steps at our entrance at Clayton and we have an access ramp, so it’s easy for wheelchairs, walking aids, or prams to get in.
Accessible Parking: We have special parking spaces close to the door for people who need extra help.
Automatic Doors: Our doors open by themselves, so you don’t have to push or pull them.
Wide Spaces: The hallways and doorways are wide, making it simple to move around in a wheelchair or with a walking aid.
Accessible Toilets: There’s a large toilet with grab rails and an emergency cord to make it safer and easier to use.
Communication
Hearing Loop: If you use a hearing aid, we have a system to make it easier for you to hear at reception.
Clear Signs: Signs around the building show where to go, and they’re easy to read.
Assistance Animals: Service dogs are welcome. Let us know if you’re bringing one.
New service for people who use British Sign Language (BSL)
We have a new service to help people who use BSL talk to their GP surgery.
How to Use the Service
Click on the link on our appointments page
You can use the service from 8:00am to 6:30pm, Monday to Friday.
You will be asked a few questions.
You will be connected to a BSL interpreter.
Tell the interpreter which GP surgery you want to talk to.
The interpreter will call your GP surgery and help you talk to them.
BSL Interpreters for Appointments
We can give you a BSL video interpreter when you come for your appointment. You do not need to book this in advance.
If you want an interpreter to come in person, please tell us as soon as you can. We usually need 2–3 weeks to book a face-to-face interpreter.
Sometimes, we cannot get a face-to-face interpreter because there are not enough BSL interpreters. If this happens, we will give you a video interpreter.
Need Help?
If you need extra help when you visit, our staff are happy to assist. Just ask us if you need help opening a door, finding your way, or anything else.
If you need information in a different format or language, or if you have special communication needs, please tell us. We will do our best to help you.
How to make a complaint
Our aim is to provide the highest level of care for all our patients. We are committed to providing high-quality, person-centred care and treatment that’s both safe and effective. However, we understand there are times when things go wrong.
If you are dissatisfied with what we have or haven’t done please tell us and we’ll do our best to make things right. If we can’t resolve matters the way you want, we’ll explain why it’s not possible to do as you suggest.
If you have any concerns you can request an appointment with Miss Donna Lewis (Care Coordinator/Practice Administrator) initially and we will work with you to resolve the issue without any formal process. However, if you need to make a formal complaint, you can do so via letter or email to B83045.Hollynshealthcomplaints@nhs.net
Using Artificial Intelligence (AI) to write your complaint
When you bring a complaint to us, we need to understand your personal experience and how the issues have affected you. Simple, clear language that explains what happened to you will always be more helpful than complicated, formal writing.
We know some people find AI tools useful to support with their writing. It is important to remember the risks of sharing your information with AI tools. Providers of these tools may use it to train their AI systems and may process it in different countries. Avoid entering sensitive personal information unless you are confident about how it will be used and protected.
Here are some suggestions to get the best results from AI tools while making sure it still sounds like you and your complaint.
- Keep your prompts focused on your experience and how it made you feel. A prompt is a question or instruction that you type into an AI tool to tell it what you want help with.
- Do not ask AI to add legal arguments, use formal legal language or reference laws to try and make your complaint sound more ‘official’.
- It is important to check any AI-generated text to make sure it reflects your own personal experience and contains accurate facts.
